With nearly 2.6 million EVs sold globally since May 2024 and low Benefit in Kind tax rates on zero emission vehicles, businesses are fast tuning into the fact that switching to EVs make sense. But which electric cars are turning the most heads in 2024?
We’ve made a list of our top 5 best for different types of driver. In no particular order…
1. Tesla Model 3 - Great All Round
One of the UK’s most popular electric cars, this one tops our list as the best all-rounder. As one of Tesla’s smallest and most affordable vehicles, the Model 3 means your employees will get in on the Tesla action without having to dig too deep into their pockets. Lease Tesla Model 3s for your fleet and you’ll benefit from the same great technology and driver assistance features as Tesla’s more expensive cars.
The Model 3 has also had a facelift, including sharper design and technology updates. It gives a rapid 0-60mph sprint of 4.4sec. Range for its entry level specification is now 344 miles and the long-range model comes with 391 miles.
2. Porsche Taycan - Luxury Car Choice
If it’s in your price range, it’s hard to find fault with this vehicle. Boasting one of the longest ranges of any EV on sale, this sporty electric car can officially cover up to 422 miles between charges, depending on which model you go for. With the addition of a Turbo GT, the maximum power increases to an incredible 1093bhp!
The 4S has a 282-mile range, plus a 0-60mph time of four seconds, or if space is of importance, there is the Sport Turismo model, providing added practicality provided through its estate-like rear.
3. MG4 - Budget Electric Car
If you’re looking to update your fleet with one of the cheapest EVs that still provides great value for money, it’s hard to beat the MG4. It drives really nicely and comes with generous kit for a car of its price.
Based on a scalable EV platform, with a line-up that includes Standard, Long and Extended Range versions, the latter can travel up to a claimed 323 miles from a charge too. Loaded with equipment, this is a really good electric car providing amazing value.
4. Hyundai Ioniq 5 N - First Electric Car
The Ioniq 5 N is an electric car that does a great impression of a petrol car, so if you’re not looking forward to the transition to electric and want a smooth journey, look no further.
A 641bhp electric hot hatch/crossover, it is both sensibly priced and practical, making it a great choice for those who need a larger electric car that is still stylish and fun. It feels more luxurious than most standard cars and for mixed driving, you can expect a range of around 221- 230 miles.
With charge power 11 kW AC the Hyundai 5 N will take approximately 8 hours 45 minutes to charge, while with a rapid charger, charge time (24->192 mi) can be achieved in around 17 minutes. If you’re looking to expand your fleet with cars that your drivers can use as family cars for personal use too, this is a car worth considering.
5. Cupra Born - Stylish Car Choice
If style is important to you and your employees, look no further. The Cupra Born is an electric hatchback that promises a bit of a sporting edge to the driver looking for a spacious family hatchback. It’s a great drive, both around town and on the motorway. Most importantly, you get good range, particularly on the big battery version. It’s also very efficient, which will help keep your electricity bills down.
